
A few years ago, my friend and I both were working for a company.
Our company’s IT department had a few dozen people in it, and I had a bunch of software engineers who needed to get to work every day.
The company didn’t have a single office that had a computer or a printer, so I would sit in my office and watch the news on a computer.
One day, we had an interesting conversation.
I was explaining how I’d been able to live life, and the other engineer asked if he could join us for a drink.
I said yes.
At first, we didn’t talk much.
After a few drinks, it became clear that we were on the same page.
I wanted to be a better engineer, so my friend said I should probably take up a coding job.
But I thought that would be a waste of my time.
I don’t think I was alone in this thought: A decade and a half later, I still feel like I don
